INTRODUCTION

RiteRaise ("we", "us", "our", "the Platform") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with transparency, care, and respect. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information about you when you access or use RiteRaise.com and all associated services, features, and tools (collectively, the "Platform").

RiteRaise is part of the Rite Platform Ecosystem, a suite of digital platforms rooted in and designed for the Jamaican community. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Jamaica, including the Data Protection Act, 2020 ("DPA"), and where applicable, by international data protection standards.

By registering for an account, creating a Campaign, making a Contribution, registering as a Volunteer, or booking an Event on RiteRaise, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the practices described herein.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you must discontinue use of the Platform.

SECTION 1: WHO WE ARE

RiteRaise is the data controller for personal information collected through RiteRaise.com. As data controller, we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data in connection with the operation of the Platform.


RiteRaise operates within the Rite Platform Ecosystem alongside RiteScopez.com, and RiteSelect.com. Each platform maintains its own privacy policy. Where services are shared across the Rite Ecosystem, data practices will be disclosed in this Policy.

SECTION 2: INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information about you in the following ways:

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you register, use, or interact with the Platform, you may provide us with:

  • Account registration details: full name, email address, username, password, and profile photograph

  • Contact information: phone number and mailing address (where required for payouts or verification)

  • Identity verification documents: government-issued identification (e.g., national ID, passport, TRN) where required for Campaign Creator verification or payout processing

  • Campaign content: campaign titles, descriptions, photographs, videos, fundraising goals, updates, and supporting documents

  • Event information: event listings, descriptions, venue details, and scheduling information

  • Volunteer profiles: skills, availability, experience, and bio information

  • Payment information: billing details and payment method information processed through our third-party payment partners (RiteRaise does not store full card numbers)

  • Communications: messages, support tickets, feedback, reports, and correspondence with RiteRaise

  • Survey and research responses: where you voluntarily participate in Platform research or feedback programmes

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • Device information: device type, operating system, browser type and version, and screen resolution

  • Log data: IP address, access timestamps, pages visited, referring URLs, and error reports

  • Usage data: features used, searches conducted, content viewed, and interaction patterns

  • Cookies and similar technologies: session identifiers, preference settings, and analytics data (see Section 8 for details)

  • Location data: approximate geographic location derived from your IP address

2.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third-party sources, including:

  • Social media platforms: if you connect a social media account to your RiteRaise profile or use social login features

  • Payment processors: transaction confirmations and fraud detection signals from our payment partners

  • Identity verification services: responses from verification providers used to authenticate Campaign Creators

  • Other Rite Ecosystem platforms: where your account is linked across the Rite Ecosystem, we may share certain profile data to enable a unified user experience

2.4 Sensitive Information

RiteRaise does not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal information (such as health data, religious beliefs, political opinions, or biometric data) unless you voluntarily include such information in your Campaign or communications. If you do include sensitive information in Campaign content, you do so voluntarily and assume responsibility for that disclosure. We treat any sensitive information that comes to our attention with heightened protection.

SECTION 3: HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

3.1 Platform Operations

  • Creating and managing your user account

  • Processing and displaying Campaigns, Contributions, Volunteer profiles, and Events

  • Facilitating transactions, payouts, and refunds

  • Verifying the identity of Campaign Creators and payout recipients

  • Enabling Contributor, Volunteer, and Event Participant features

3.2 Communications

  • Sending transactional emails: account confirmations, Campaign updates, payment receipts, and Event reminders

  • Responding to your enquiries, support requests, and reports

  • Sending service-related announcements and policy updates

  • Delivering marketing communications and newsletters, where you have opted in

3.3 Safety and Security

  • Detecting, investigating, and preventing fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service

  • Verifying user identity and maintaining platform integrity

  • Complying with legal obligations, court orders, and regulatory requirements

  • Cooperating with law enforcement where required by Jamaican law or applicable international law

3.4 Platform Improvement

  • Analysing usage patterns to improve features, performance, and user experience

  • Conducting research and analytics to understand community needs

  • Testing new features and Platform functionality

3.5 Legal Compliance

  • Meeting obligations under the Data Protection Act, 2020 (Jamaica)

  • Complying with the Proceeds of Crime Act and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements

  • Maintaining financial records as required under applicable Jamaican law

  • Fulfilling tax reporting obligations where applicable

3.6 Personalisation

  • Tailoring your Platform experience based on your preferences and usage history

  • Recommending Campaigns, Events, or Volunteer opportunities that may be relevant to you

SECTION 4: LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING

Under the Data Protection Act, 2020 (Jamaica), we process your personal information on the following legal bases:

Contractual Necessity: Processing required to fulfil our obligations under the Terms of Service and to provide the services you have requested.

Legal Obligation: Processing required to comply with applicable Jamaican law, including the Data Protection Act, Proceeds of Crime Act, and financial regulations.

Legitimate Interests: Processing for purposes such as fraud prevention, platform security, and improving our services, provided such interests are not overridden by your data protection rights.

Consent: Processing for marketing communications, certain cookies, and other discretionary data uses where we have obtained your explicit consent. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Vital Interests: Processing in rare circumstances where necessary to protect the vital interests of a person.

SECTION 5: HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

RiteRaise does not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

5.1 With Campaign Creators

When you make a Contribution to a Campaign, certain information — such as your name (unless you contribute anonymously), contribution amount, and message — may be visible to the Campaign Creator for the purposes of campaign management and acknowledgment.

5.2 With Volunteers and Event Participants

Event Organisers and Campaign Creators may access certain profile information of Volunteers and Event Participants who have engaged with their Campaign or Event, such as name, contact details, and volunteer skills, for the purpose of coordination and communication.

5.3 With Service Providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, including:

  • Payment processors: to facilitate transactions and payouts

  • Identity verification providers: to verify Campaign Creators and payout recipients

  • Email and communications services: to deliver transactional and marketing communications

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers: to host and operate the Platform

  • Analytics providers: to analyse Platform usage and performance

All service providers are contractually bound to process your information only for the purposes we specify and to maintain appropriate security standards.

5.4 Within the Rite Platform Ecosystem

Where you hold linked accounts across multiple Rite Ecosystem platforms, certain profile information (such as your name, email address, and account status) may be shared across those platforms to provide a consistent and integrated experience. Each platform retains its own privacy governance.

5.5 Legal and Regulatory Disclosure

We may disclose your information where required to do so by law, court order, or regulatory authority, or where we believe such disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable Jamaican law or international legal obligations

  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of RiteRaise, our Users, or the public

  • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues

  • Cooperate with law enforcement investigations

5.6 Business Transfers

In the event that RiteRaise or any part of the Rite Platform Ecosystem is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any such transfer and any material changes to how your information is handled.

5.7 Public Campaign Information

Campaign Pages on RiteRaise are publicly accessible by default. Information you include on a Campaign Page — including campaign name, description, photographs, videos, fundraising progress, and updates — is visible to all visitors of the Platform, including non-registered users. You should not include information on a Campaign Page that you are not comfortable being publicly visible.

SECTION 6: DATA RETENTION

6.1 Retention Periods

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, to maintain your account, and to comply with our legal obligations. Specific retention periods include:

  • Account information: retained for the duration of your account and for seven (7) years following account closure, in accordance with Jamaican financial record-keeping requirements

  • Transaction and financial records: retained for seven (7) years from the date of the transaction

  • Campaign data: retained for the duration of the Campaign and for seven (7) years following its conclusion

  • Communications and support records: retained for three (3) years from the date of last contact

  • Marketing preferences: retained until you withdraw consent or for three (3) years of inactivity, whichever occurs first

  • Legal hold data: retained for the duration of any applicable legal proceedings or regulatory investigation

6.2 Deletion

When your personal information is no longer required for any of the purposes stated in this Policy, we will securely delete or anonymise it. Anonymised data that can no longer identify you may be retained indefinitely for aggregate analytics and research purposes.

SECTION 7: YOUR RIGHTS

Under the Data Protection Act, 2020 (Jamaica), you have the following rights in relation to your personal information:

7.1 Right of Access

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and information about how we use it. We will respond to verified access requests within thirty (30) days.

7.2 Right to Rectification

You have the right to request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal information we hold about you. You may update much of your account information directly through your account settings.

7.3 Right to Erasure

You have the right to request deletion of your personal information in certain circumstances — for example, where the data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. This right is subject to our legal obligations to retain certain data (see Section 6).

7.4 Right to Restrict Processing

You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances, such as where you contest the accuracy of the data or object to our processing.

7.5 Right to Object

You have the right to object to our processing of your personal information where we are relying on legitimate interests as the legal basis, and where our interests are outweighed by your data protection rights.

7.6 Right to Withdraw Consent

Where we rely on your consent to process personal information (such as for marketing communications or optional cookies), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

7.7 Right to Data Portability

Where technically feasible and where processing is carried out by automated means, you have the right to receive a copy of certain personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

7.8 Exercising Your Rights

To exercise any of the rights described above, please contact our Privacy Team at privacy@riteraise.com. We may require you to verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond to all legitimate requests within thirty (30) days. Where requests are complex or numerous, we may extend this period by a further thirty (30) days and will notify you accordingly.

7.9 Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with this Policy or applicable law, you may submit a complaint to our Privacy Team at privacy@riteraise.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant Jamaican data protection supervisory authority.

SECTION 8: COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

8.1 What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as web beacons, pixels, and local storage) to operate and improve the Platform, personalise your experience, and analyse how the Platform is used.

8.2 Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary Cookies: Essential for the Platform to function. These enable core features such as account login, session management, and security. These cookies cannot be disabled.

Performance and Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how Users interact with the Platform by collecting aggregated, anonymous usage data. These cookies allow us to improve the Platform's performance and content.

Functionality Cookies: Remember your preferences and settings (such as language, notification preferences, and display options) to provide a personalised experience.

Marketing and Targeting Cookies: Used to deliver relevant promotional content and measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. These are only activated with your consent.

8.3 Managing Cookies

You may manage your cookie preferences through our Cookie Consent tool, accessible on the Platform. You may also configure your browser settings to block or delete cookies; however, disabling certain cookies may affect your ability to use some features of the Platform.

8.4 Third-Party Tracking

Certain third-party services embedded in the Platform (such as analytics tools and payment processors) may set their own cookies or tracking technologies. These are governed by the privacy policies of those third parties and not by this Policy.

SECTION 9: DATA SECURITY

RiteRaise takes the security of your personal information seriously. We implement and maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, theft, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Our security measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Encryption of data in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS)

  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest

  • Strict access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis

  • Regular security reviews, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing

  • Secure third-party payment processing in compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI-DSS) standards

  • Multi-factor authentication options for user accounts

  • Incident response procedures for data breach detection and notification

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the relevant authorities in accordance with our obligations under the Data Protection Act, 2020.

SECTION 10: CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

RiteRaise is not directed at children under the age of thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen. Users between thirteen (13) and seventeen (17) years of age may only access the Platform with verified parental or legal guardian consent.

If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under thirteen without parental consent, we will take prompt steps to delete that information. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under thirteen, please contact us immediately at privacy@riteraise.com.

SECTION 11: INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

RiteRaise is based in Jamaica and primarily processes data within Jamaica. However, certain third-party service providers we use (such as cloud hosting, analytics, or payment processing partners) may be located in or process data in other countries.

Where we transfer your personal information outside of Jamaica, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Policy and the Data Protection Act, 2020. These safeguards may include contractual data processing agreements with our service providers that incorporate appropriate data protection standards.

SECTION 12: THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND INTEGRATIONS

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, embedded content, or integrations with third-party services (such as social media platforms or payment gateways). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the Platform before providing them with your personal information.

SECTION 13: VOLUNTEER AND EVENT PRIVACY

13.1 Volunteer Information

When you register as a Volunteer, your profile information (including name, skills, and availability) may be visible to Campaign Creators and Event Organisers on the Platform for the purpose of matching and coordination. You control what information you include in your Volunteer profile. You may update or remove your Volunteer profile at any time through your account settings.

13.2 Event Participants

When you register for or attend an Event on RiteRaise, your registration information may be shared with the Event Organiser to facilitate event logistics, communication, and attendance management. Event Organisers are responsible for the privacy of information collected at in-person Events, including any photography or video recording. Participants who do not wish to be photographed or recorded at offline Events should notify the Event Organiser in advance.

13.3 Photography and Recording at Events

Where an Event Organiser intends to photograph or record participants at an offline Event, this must be disclosed in the Event listing. Participants retain the right to opt out of being photographed or recorded by notifying the Event Organiser prior to or at the commencement of the Event. RiteRaise is not responsible for the use of photographs or recordings taken at third-party Events.

SECTION 14: MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

14.1 Opt-In

We will only send you marketing communications (such as newsletters, campaign spotlights, or promotional offers) where you have explicitly opted in to receive such communications. Opt-in is requested at the time of account registration and is not a condition of using the Platform.

14.2 Opt-Out

You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by:

  • Clicking the "Unsubscribe" link included in any marketing email

  • Updating your communication preferences in your account settings

  • Contacting us at privacy@riteraise.com

Opting out of marketing communications does not affect transactional or service-related communications (such as payment receipts, campaign updates, or account security notifications), which we may continue to send where necessary for Platform operation.

SECTION 15: CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our data practices, legal obligations, or Platform features. When we make material changes to this Policy, we will:

  • Post the updated Policy on this page with a revised effective date

  • Notify registered Users by email at the address associated with their account

  • Display a prominent notice on the Platform for a reasonable period following the update

We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of a revised Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with material changes, you may close your account by contacting support@riteraise.com.

SECTION 17: GLOSSARY

"Contributor" A User who makes a financial or in-kind Contribution to a Campaign on RiteRaise.

"Campaign Creator" A User who initiates and manages a fundraising or community Campaign on the Platform.

"Data Controller" The entity that determines the purposes and means of processing personal data. RiteRaise is the Data Controller for personal information processed through RiteRaise.com.

"Data Protection Act, 2020" The primary data protection legislation of Jamaica governing the collection, use, and protection of personal information.

"Personal Information" Any information that identifies or could reasonably identify an individual, whether alone or in combination with other data.

"Processing" Any operation performed on personal information, including collection, storage, use, disclosure, and deletion.

"Volunteer" A User who offers their time and skills in support of a Campaign or Event without monetary compensation.

"Event Participant" A User who registers for or attends an Event listed on the Platform.

"Rite Ecosystem" The suite of digital platforms operated under the Rite brand, including RiteRaise, RiteScopez, and RiteSelect.
