Community Guidelines
COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Effective Date: September 12, 2026
Part of the Rite Platform Ecosystem
A Jamaican Digital Crowdfunding, Volunteering & Events Community
OUR COMMUNITY PROMISE
RiteRaise exists because communities are stronger when they come together. We built this platform for the people of Jamaica and beyond — to raise funds, give time, share skills, and show up for one another at events that matter.
These Community Guidelines are not just rules. They are a shared promise about the kind of space we want RiteRaise to be — one built on trust, honesty, respect, and collective care. Every person who uses this platform, from the campaign creator starting their first fundraiser to the volunteer giving their Saturday to a neighbourhood project, is a part of this community. These guidelines apply to everyone equally.
We ask that you read them not as restrictions but as an invitation — to contribute to something bigger than yourself in a way that lifts others up.
🤝 The RiteRaise Standard: Be honest. Be kind. Be accountable. Show up for your community the way you would want your community to show up for you.
SECTION 1: WHO THESE GUIDELINES APPLY TO
These Community Guidelines apply to every person who uses RiteRaise in any capacity, including:
Campaign Creators — individuals or groups who start fundraising or community campaigns
Contributors — people who donate funds or in-kind support to campaigns
Volunteers — people who offer their time and skills to support campaigns or events
Event Organisers — individuals or groups who list events on the platform
Event Participants — people who book or attend events listed on RiteRaise
Visitors — anyone who browses the platform, whether registered or not
These Guidelines supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where there is any conflict between these Guidelines and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall prevail.
SECTION 2: CAMPAIGN INTEGRITY
A campaign on RiteRaise is a promise to your community. When you ask people to contribute their hard-earned money, you are asking for their trust. That trust must be earned and honoured.
2.1 Be Honest About Your Campaign
Every campaign on RiteRaise must be truthful, accurate, and transparent. You must:
Clearly describe what the campaign is for and what funds will be used to achieve
Set a realistic and justified fundraising goal
Disclose who will receive and manage the funds
Provide accurate and verifiable supporting information, such as documentation, photographs, or evidence relevant to your cause
Update your campaign promptly if circumstances change significantly
Misrepresenting the purpose, urgency, or nature of a campaign — even partially — is a violation of these Guidelines and may result in campaign removal and account suspension.
2.2 Use Funds as Promised
Funds raised on RiteRaise must be used for the purpose stated on your Campaign Page. You must not redirect funds to a different cause, use funds for personal enrichment unrelated to your stated purpose, or withhold funds from intended beneficiaries without explanation and community notification.
If your circumstances change and you cannot use funds as originally planned, you must communicate openly with your contributors and, where appropriate, offer refunds or redirect funds with contributor consent.
2.3 Keep Your Community Updated
Campaign Creators are encouraged to post regular updates on their Campaign Pages. Your contributors have invested in your cause — they deserve to know how things are progressing. Good updates include:
Progress toward your goal and how funds are being used
Milestones achieved and challenges encountered
Timelines and next steps
Acknowledgement of your contributors' support
Campaigns that go silent for extended periods without explanation may be flagged for review.
2.4 Community Campaigns
Community Campaigns carry an additional layer of accountability because they represent groups, not just individuals. All administrators of a Community Campaign share joint responsibility for:
The accuracy and integrity of all campaign content
The proper management and use of all funds raised
Transparent communication with contributors and the broader community
Ensuring that all listed beneficiaries have consented to being represented in the campaign
⚠️ Important: Creating a campaign on behalf of another person, family, or organisation without their knowledge or consent is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal.
2.5 Prohibited Campaign Content
The following types of campaigns are not permitted on RiteRaise:
Campaigns that are false, exaggerated, or designed to deceive contributors
Campaigns for illegal activities or to fund violations of Jamaican law
Campaigns promoting hate, violence, discrimination, or harm against any individual or group
Campaigns for gambling, lotteries, or games of chance
Campaigns to purchase weapons, controlled substances, or illegal goods
Campaigns impersonating a legitimate organisation, charity, or public figure
Campaigns with no clear, legitimate, and verifiable purpose
Campaigns that duplicate another active campaign with the intent to divert contributions
SECTION 3: CONTRIBUTING TO CAMPAIGNS
Contributing to a campaign is an act of generosity and trust. As a contributor, you play a vital role in making this community work. We ask that you:
3.1 Contribute in Good Faith
Make contributions only when you genuinely intend to support the stated campaign. Do not use the contribution system to manipulate campaign metrics, test payment systems fraudulently, or conduct transactions unrelated to the campaign purpose.
3.2 Respect Campaign Creators
Campaign Creators are often navigating difficult circumstances. If you have concerns about a campaign, use the platform's reporting tools rather than harassing, threatening, or publicly shaming the campaign creator. Constructive private communication is always preferable to public attacks.
3.3 Understand What You Are Contributing To
Before contributing, read the campaign description carefully. RiteRaise does not guarantee outcomes for any campaign. If you have questions about a campaign's legitimacy or fund use, you may contact the campaign creator through the platform's messaging feature or report the campaign for review.
3.4 Anonymous Contributions
You may choose to contribute anonymously. However, using anonymous contributions to evade accountability, launder funds, or obscure fraudulent activity is a violation of these Guidelines and applicable law. RiteRaise retains internal transaction records for all contributions regardless of displayed anonymity.
SECTION 4: VOLUNTEERING WITH INTEGRITY
Volunteers are the heartbeat of community action. When you commit your time to a campaign or event, you are making a promise — to the organisers, to the beneficiaries, and to the broader community. We ask you to honour that promise.
4.1 Represent Yourself Honestly
Your Volunteer profile must accurately reflect your skills, availability, and experience. Do not misrepresent qualifications, certifications, or professional experience. If you are unable to fulfil a volunteer commitment, notify the campaign creator or event organiser as early as possible so alternative arrangements can be made.
4.2 Show Up and Follow Through
Volunteering is a commitment. If you accept a volunteer role, make every reasonable effort to fulfil it as agreed. Repeated failures to honour volunteer commitments without valid reason or communication may result in limitations to your Volunteer profile or account.
4.3 Conduct Yourself Professionally
Whether volunteering online or in person, you represent both yourself and the RiteRaise community. Treat all campaign creators, organisers, fellow volunteers, event participants, and beneficiaries with dignity and respect. Behaviour that is disruptive, intimidating, discriminatory, or harmful in a volunteer context will not be tolerated.
4.4 Protect Vulnerable Persons
Some volunteer roles may bring you into contact with vulnerable individuals, including children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, or those in crisis. In all such interactions, you must:
Behave with heightened care, sensitivity, and professionalism
Never exploit your position for personal gain
Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the campaign organiser and, where required by law, to the relevant Jamaican authorities
Never engage in any form of abuse, harassment, or exploitation of a vulnerable person
🚨 Zero Tolerance: Any form of abuse, exploitation, or harm directed at a child or vulnerable person through the RiteRaise platform will result in immediate account termination and referral to the appropriate Jamaican law enforcement authorities.
4.5 Confidentiality
In the course of volunteering, you may become aware of personal or sensitive information about beneficiaries, campaign creators, or event participants. You must treat such information with strict confidentiality and must not share, publish, or exploit it without the explicit consent of the person concerned.
SECTION 5: EVENTS — ONLINE AND OFFLINE
Events on RiteRaise bring our community together in real time. Whether you are organising, attending, or participating virtually, the following standards apply.
5.1 Event Organisers
If you list an event on RiteRaise, you take on responsibility for:
Providing accurate, complete, and honest event information — including date, time, location or platform link, fees, and any requirements for attendance
Delivering the event as described, or communicating changes promptly and offering refunds where applicable
Ensuring the event environment — physical or virtual — is safe, lawful, and respectful
Complying with all applicable Jamaican laws, local government regulations, health and safety requirements, and permits required for in-person events
Treating all participants with fairness and dignity regardless of their background
5.2 Event Participants
When you book or attend an event through RiteRaise, you agree to:
Attend in the spirit of the event's stated purpose
Conduct yourself respectfully toward organisers, other participants, and any community members present
Follow the event organiser's reasonable instructions and house rules
Not record, photograph, or stream event content without the organiser's and participants' consent
Not disrupt, sabotage, or interfere with the delivery of an event
5.3 Online Events
For virtual events, additional standards apply:
Do not share event access links or login credentials with non-registered participants without the organiser's permission
Do not use screen recording tools during events unless explicitly permitted by the organiser
Do not engage in disruptive behaviour in virtual event spaces, including spamming, harassment, or deliberate technical interference
Maintain appropriate conduct as you would in a professional or community in-person setting
5.4 Photography and Recording at Offline Events
Participants at in-person events have the right to opt out of being photographed or recorded. If you do not wish to be captured in photographs or videos at an event, notify the organiser before or at the start of the event. Organisers must respect such requests. Participants who photograph or record at events must not publish or distribute images or recordings of others without their consent.
SECTION 6: RESPECTFUL COMMUNICATION
RiteRaise is a community space. How we speak to each other shapes the kind of community we build. We expect all communications on the platform — including campaign updates, messages, comments, volunteer profiles, and event listings — to meet these standards.
6.1 Treat Everyone with Respect
You must not use RiteRaise to harass, threaten, intimidate, bully, or demean any person. This includes campaign creators, contributors, volunteers, event participants, RiteRaise staff, and third parties referenced in campaign content.
6.2 No Hate Speech or Discrimination
Content that attacks, demeans, or dehumanises individuals or groups based on any of the following characteristics is strictly prohibited:
Race, colour, or ethnicity
National origin or citizenship status
Religion or religious belief
Gender or gender identity
Sexual orientation
Disability or health status
Age
Socioeconomic background or class
Jamaica is a diverse nation with a rich cultural heritage. We celebrate that diversity on RiteRaise and will not allow it to be weaponised against any member of our community.
6.3 No Misinformation
Do not knowingly publish false or misleading information on the platform — including in campaign descriptions, event listings, updates, volunteer profiles, or communications with other users. Misinformation undermines community trust and may cause real harm to individuals and causes.
6.4 No Spam or Unsolicited Promotion
Do not use RiteRaise's messaging, update, or comment features to send unsolicited promotional messages, solicit contributions to external platforms, or flood the platform with repetitive or irrelevant content.
6.5 Language
RiteRaise operates primarily in English and Jamaican Patois. Content may be posted in either language. Regardless of language used, all content must meet the respect and integrity standards described in these Guidelines. Offensive, vulgar, or abusive language is not permitted in any public-facing content on the platform.
SECTION 7: CHILD SAFETY
The protection of children is a non-negotiable priority on RiteRaise. Every member of our community has a role in keeping children safe.
Do not create campaigns, events, or content that exploits, endangers, sexualises, or harms children in any way
Do not use RiteRaise to solicit personal information from minors or to make contact with children for inappropriate purposes
Campaign Creators who raise funds on behalf of children must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian and must be transparent about how funds will be used for the benefit of the child
Volunteers working directly with children must comply with any applicable screening, background check, or child protection requirements imposed by the campaign organiser or applicable Jamaican law
Any content that involves or depicts child sexual abuse material (CSAM) will result in immediate account termination and mandatory referral to Jamaican law enforcement and relevant child protection authorities
🚨 Zero Tolerance: There are no warnings, appeals, or second chances for conduct that sexualises, exploits, or endangers a child. This is the most serious violation on our platform.
SECTION 8: FINANCIAL INTEGRITY AND ANTI-FRAUD
RiteRaise is built on financial trust. The following conduct is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension, fund freezing, and referral to relevant Jamaican financial and law enforcement authorities:
Creating campaigns for fraudulent or fictitious causes
Using the platform to launder money or conduct transactions that conceal the origin of funds
Using stolen payment credentials or conducting unauthorised transactions
Manipulating campaign metrics, contribution counts, or fundraising progress through artificial means
Misappropriating campaign funds — using funds raised for a purpose other than that stated
Coordinating with others to inflate campaign statistics or contributions fraudulently
RiteRaise complies with the Proceeds of Crime Act (Jamaica) and cooperates fully with financial authorities in the investigation of suspected financial crimes. We are required by law to report suspicious financial activity and will do so without prior notice to the account holder.
SECTION 9: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND CONTENT STANDARDS
9.1 Only Share What You Have the Right to Share
All content you publish on RiteRaise — including campaign descriptions, photographs, videos, event listings, and profile information — must be content you own, have a licence to use, or have appropriate permissions to publish. Do not upload or share:
Copyrighted images, music, or video you do not have rights to use
Content belonging to another person or organisation without their permission
Content that misrepresents your identity or your campaign's connection to a third-party brand or organisation
9.2 Content Quality Standards
Campaign and event content should be clear, accurate, and in good faith. We reserve the right to remove or request revision of content that is:
Misleading, exaggerated, or sensationalised in a way that manipulates contributors
Graphic, violent, or disturbing without legitimate justification
Sexually explicit or suggestive
Threatening, abusive, or targeted at a specific individual or group
9.3 Photographs and Beneficiary Dignity
When including images of beneficiaries — particularly in campaigns related to illness, poverty, disaster, or other hardship — treat those individuals with dignity and respect. Avoid imagery that is exploitative, dehumanising, or that presents vulnerable persons in a manner they would not consent to. Where the subject of a campaign is a child, ensure parental or guardian consent is obtained before publishing any identifiable images.
SECTION 10: REPORTING AND ENFORCEMENT
10.1 How to Report a Concern
If you believe a campaign, event, user, or piece of content on RiteRaise violates these Guidelines, we encourage you to report it. You can report a concern by:
Using the "Report" button available on every Campaign Page, Event listing, and user profile
Emailing our moderation team at report@riteraise.com
Contacting our support team at support@riteraise.com for urgent matters
Reports are reviewed by the RiteRaise moderation team. We treat all reports in confidence and do not disclose the identity of the reporting party to the subject of the report.
10.2 What Happens When a Report Is Received
When a report is received, we will:
Acknowledge receipt and begin a review within a reasonable timeframe
Assess the reported content or conduct against these Guidelines and our Terms of Service
Take appropriate action, which may include requesting clarification from the reported party, issuing a warning, removing content, suspending the campaign, or terminating the account
Notify you of the outcome where appropriate and where doing so does not compromise the integrity of the review
10.3 Enforcement Actions
Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, RiteRaise may take any or all of the following actions:
Warning: A formal notice issued to the User identifying the violation and required corrective action.
Content Removal: Removal of a specific campaign, update, listing, image, or other piece of content that violates these Guidelines.
Campaign Suspension: Temporary suspension of a campaign pending review or corrective action.
Campaign Termination: Permanent removal of a campaign from the platform, with appropriate handling of collected funds.
Account Suspension: Temporary restriction of a User's access to the platform pending investigation or corrective action.
Account Termination: Permanent removal of a User from the platform for serious or repeated violations.
Fund Hold: A temporary hold placed on campaign funds pending the outcome of a fraud or compliance investigation.
Legal Referral: Referral of the matter to relevant Jamaican law enforcement, financial authorities, or child protection agencies where required by law or where the conduct poses a serious risk to individuals or the public.
10.4 Appeals
If your campaign, content, or account has been actioned and you believe the decision was made in error, you may submit an appeal to appeals@riteraise.com within thirty (30) days of the action. Please include your account details, a description of the action taken, and the grounds for your appeal. RiteRaise will review your appeal and respond within a reasonable timeframe. The outcome of an appeal is final.
10.5 Good-Faith Reporting
We ask that all reports be made in good faith, based on a genuine belief that a violation has occurred. Using the reporting system to harass, suppress, or unfairly target other Users — including competitors or creators you have a personal dispute with — is itself a violation of these Guidelines.
SECTION 11: OUR JAMAICAN COMMUNITY VALUES
RiteRaise is proudly rooted in Jamaica. Our platform reflects the values that have long defined Jamaican community life — the spirit of "one love," mutual aid, collective resilience, and the belief that no one should be left behind.
We ask every member of our community to carry those values into how they use this platform:
Show up for others the way you would want others to show up for you
Celebrate the successes of fellow campaign creators, even when they are not your own
Contribute what you can — whether it is money, time, or encouragement — knowing that small acts of generosity multiply across a community
Hold space for the diversity within Jamaica itself: across parishes, generations, faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs
Welcome members of the Jamaican diaspora who wish to contribute to causes back home
Approach every interaction on this platform as if you are a guest in someone's community — because you are
🇯🇲 RiteRaise Believes: When Jamaican communities raise each other up — locally, nationally, and across the diaspora — there is nothing we cannot achieve together.
SECTION 12: UPDATES TO THESE GUIDELINES
RiteRaise may update these Community Guidelines from time to time as our platform and community grow. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email and post a notice on the platform. Your continued use of RiteRaise after the effective date of updated Guidelines constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
We welcome feedback on these Guidelines from our community. If you have a suggestion or concern about how these Guidelines are written or enforced, please write to us at support@riteraise.com.
